Essay 5: Fun & Effort

6. If you were to look back on your high school years, what advice would you give to someone beginning their high school career? (Simmons)

Try, try, try, and have fun doing it.

High school is where you can start finding out who you are and where your future life may be based off. High school is not the easiest place to be and it's a step everybody has to take. High school sets you up for college and the world, so it will definitely be a challenge at times. However, whenever the going does get tough, don't give up. High school is only four years, and believe it or not, it'll fly by quickly before you know it, so make the most out of it. Whatever homework, assignments, or projects you receive from your teachers, do it thoroughly with all your effort. Manage you time so that you get the most out of every minute. Even if the assignment is difficult, ask classmates and teachers for help cause they want to see you succeed. Don't waste precious time watching movies or playing games when you know you have to study. There'll be plenty of time afterwards.

When opportunity comes knocking on your door, take it. High school is where you can try and experiment with things that interest you. Take a risk because you might end of finding a new passion that you enjoy. If you do fail, don't worry because high school is the place where you can take a fall and move on. Try a wide range of different activities that can help your personality and character develop into a good person. You will end up enjoying yourself and find many memorable moments, but do not forget to have fun.

Go have fun (okay, not too much fun). Make sure you make every moment count. Whatever time you spend with your friends, doing homework, etc, make it worthwhile. Once these four years are over, you won't be able to get them back. Try to find something good for everything that happens in your teenage years. Take a hold of your life and run with it. You might find something really cool and interesting, or you'll end up regretting yourself for not trying.
